What a fun place but get ready for an appetite so much food! They throw the rolls at you and that was a fun experience! Black eyed peas are amazing
I love Lambert's Cafe!!! Such a fun atmosphere, mainly for kids. My husband doesn't care for his roll being thrown across the room. But, I get a kick out of it. Don't know of any other place where you see that. And talk about the rolls, Yummy and huge!! They serve delicious in-house apple butter and molasses (one of my favorite sweet treats in the world) to go with them. You will not leave this place hungry! My husband thinks it's a "trough" kind of place where you get way too much food. I'm like, keep me at the trough, and keep serving me. I don't mind overstuffing myself a bit on all the fix'ens bc they are so so good. Can order an entree to include the pass arounds, or just order the pass arounds. I usually get BBQ Pork Steak with your choice of 3 sides and all of Lambert's pass arounds. I see why it's one of Lambert's top sellers. I've dined here with several people whom have all gotten different things, which I've tasted (and they are ALL good.) I know i can order anything on the menu, and it be better than home-cooking. All the sides are good too. You can choose from sides shown in pic taken from Lambert's website. I've also included a picture of their Pass-arounds from their website too. It was too much for me to list. I particularly like the potatoes and onions & macaroni and tomatoes. The majority must like all these pass arounds, as much as me, bc they are sometimes slow to come around. The service is good, but this place stays packed with patrons, so you have to be patient for your turn. That's another thing that bothers my husband. He doesn't care for crowds and likes quiet atmospheres. So, this isn't the kind of place for him. Plus, he likes to get in and get out, as quick as possible. I could come everyday, sit back as long as it takes, and enjoy the company, along with goooooood food! Tips: 1)Either get there when they first open, or plan on waiting a long time for a table. 2)Drink containers are huge, so you probably won't want a refill. 3)No fresh lemons, only lemon juice in packages at the table. 4) Pass around(s) are served on paper towels. 5)Be prepared, rolls are in the air everywhere. But, the throwers have pretty good aim. So, you probably won't be hit in the head. lol 6) Have patience bc there's always a lot of people wanting the same thing (their food.) 7)Be prepared for a fun atmosphere that is entertaining for all, (hint hint) wait staff sometimes plays jokes on patrons. 8) I advise you to go online and check out their menu, story, etc.
Once again, Lambert's surpassed expectations and delivered a succulent feast. Friends came to town and wanted to meet for a nice lunch. In Foley, the first eatery that came to mind was of course, Lambert's. We chose a late lunch at 2:00 pm to allow the crowds to thin out and it worked fine. Service was impeccable with no wait for anything. Drinks were delivered and we already had hot toss rolls and samples of delicious fried okra. Meals came fast and our discerning guests were thrilled. Our table ordered BBQ ribs, chicken fried steak, chicken fingers, and liver and onions. More rolls arrived, then more okra, and black eyed peas made the rounds. Smiles on every face as we stuffed ourselves. As we were leaving our guests announced that their return trip would include a stop in Foley and another meal at Lambert's. They really know how to treat customers. Can't wait to come back...
It's a must restaurant to visit every time I go to Pensacola area. Not only the food is great here but the experience is fun and unforgettable. The highlight experience is when they throw the hot and delicious rolls when you raise your hands. With the big portion amount of the food and unlimited sides that they passed, I would say that the price is cheap here. The service is incredible. All of the servers are friendly and helpful. They also have wonderful atmosphere with a cute southern decoration all over the place. Just can't miss this place out if you are in the area!!
It has a fun atmosphere and amazing dinner rolls. They are big, they have a great crust, they have a wonderful mouth feel, and they are delicious all by themselves and even better with butter. All of the food was good, and we had a fun time there.
How have I never reviewed this place?! It's one of our required, MUST eat restaurants in the Gulf Shores-Foley-Pensacola area. We had lunch there again today and it was wonderful, as usual. If you're unfamiliar with this place, it's known as the place where they throw the warm rolls to you. Now, for all of you socially anxious people like myself, they won't toss you a roll unless you request one! (Don't picture being bonked in the head, like I did). The other unique thing is "the pass arounds": servers walk around with side items like fried okra, black eyed peas, Mac n cheese with tomatoes and you can request as much as you like in addition to what you order. My husband's go to is the center cut ham steak and while I've tried the chicken pot pie and roast beef, my favorite is the fried catfish. Service is always friendly and fast and it's usually crowded, but it's because it's so good. Also, the decor of the place centers around the family that started this business in the 1940's and I believe it's fifth generation owned now. This location is the 2nd restaurant, with the original in Missouri (I think...!). If you're anywhere within driving distance of Lambert's, I highly recommend. THE BEST.
Lambert's Cafe Review We took our two girls to Lambert's Cafe for dinner, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish! The ambiance was super cool and the kids had a lot to look at. Despite the place being packed, we were greeted with friendly smiles and seated immediately. Our server was amazing--super attentive and patient, especially with our kids. I ordered the broiled chicken breast, and my wife had the catfish. Both dishes were cooked perfectly and tasted absolutely delicious. The pass-arounds were a great bonus, and we especially loved the fried okra and black-eyed peas. Of course, the famous "throwed rolls" lived up to the hype--what a fun and unique experience! If you haven't been to Lambert's Cafe yet, you should definitely give it a shot. We'll be coming back for sure!
I love Lambert's. It is a good meal. Some of our favorites include; pork chops, chicken and dumplings, chicken pot pie, and others. Sides: Mac and cheese, fried okra, fried potatoes. Things that are okay-the rolls are not my favorites, the onion and cucumber is just okay, mayonnaise is heavy in the slaw, mashed potatoes are okay, macaroni and tomatoes, and applesauce are just okay. We enjoy it, and will continue to pig out ever so often. What they do well--is awesome. There are something that I want to be better. The service is always awesome.
This place was absolutely packed with a huge line at 9PM in the middle of the week - for good reason! Great experience to go with some wonderful 'Merican food. Did I mention they throw hot dinner rolls at you from all over the place? Yep, seriously. Catch them or miss them, it's a fun time with lots of smiles. Don't forget to save room for the "pass arounds" that servers will share as they wander past your tables, too. You'll leave full and happy!
Great but touristy. Homestyle meals. Huge and comfort food. They are known for the piping hot rolls but these rolls are delivered by a "throw" to you. Some are short throws. Some are deep bombs Huge portions food and side dishes. Then some shared sides like fried okra. Check out some Videos online
